Airport Attire

Cute AND comfy on an airplane? It is very possible and you don't have to resort to head-to-toe velour or having PINK displayed across your butt and chest. But I digress....

You always need something to keep you warm on those cold flights, so I always make sure to have a sweater or a scarf with me (or both).

I plan on being at the beach so the straw fedora is a must. It's best to just wear it on the plane and not have the stress of it being smashed beyond wear once you arrive to your destination.

Jumpsuit: Velvet by Graham and Spencer | Cardigan: Joie | Hat: Jcrew | Weekender: Pendleton (gift from my wonderful mother) | Shoes: Hi-top Chucks | Watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs | Bracelets: Rugby, Burberry, Misc.

Well, I'm headed to Chi town for the weekend to visit all my girls! Be back next week with more fun posts!

Have a great weekend!

And remember.....no velour!

Rings and Things

I really dislike using a jewelry box for storing all my jewelry. It literally just sits in there and I never wear it because I forget I even have jewelry to wear in the first place. Out of sight, out of mind I guess. Anyway, I've come up with some clever ways to store my jewelry that keeps it in plain sight, while making my room more decorative at the same time. Today, I'm going to show you what I did with my never ending ring collection.

First, you'll need a few things from your local craft store....

1) a thin piece of wood in the shape of an oval 2) wooden dowel small enough to fit though your rings 3) paint color of choice 4) wood glue 5) small paint brush 6) X-acto knife

  1. Cut the dowel with the X-acto knife to your desired length (don't make it too long, the last thing you want is have to go through 10 rings just to get to the one you want)
  2. Paint both pieces of wood and allow to dry
  3. Glue the dowel to the center of the oval or circle (you're going to have to hold them together until the glue dries)
  4. Stack on your rings

It's literally that simple and you can make as many as you need. If you do need more than one I suggest making them differ in height for dimension.

Enjoy!

Getting Inspired...

I love to create....anything and everything! But you need inspiration and what better way to do so than having your own Inspiration Board?

Corkboard and ribbon? Been there, done that. I wanted something a little more unique and different. So I thought why not just put everything that inspires me right on my wall? I tend to go more the simple route anyway. So here's what I came up with...

Side Note: I started this awhile ago. So looking back now I would most definitely change the font and the colors. Don't know what I was thinking at the time.

- Start off by measuring a rectangle and making dashes about every 6 inches (will differ on the size you want)
- Draw very thin diagonal lines to and from each dash
- Put a thumb tack at each dash and where the lines intersect
- Wrap string (or whatever you'd like) around each tack creating the grid-like pattern
- Secure the string by making sure each tack is locked into place

Once finished, the rest is up to you. Fill it with fabric samples, pictures of family and friends, Magazine ads, maybe even pictures of yourself (if that's your thing)....whatever gets you going!

Until next time...
